The vast majority of theoretical and numerical investigations of fibrillation is based on the assumption that human fibrillation is a deterministic process. Is this assumption correct? For example, cardiac dynamics is driven by inherently stochastic calcium cycling. In addition, seemingly random intracardiac signals during human fibrillation appear to contradict this assumption. Konstantinos applied a state-of-the-art analysis method to human fibrillation to provide profound insights into the mechanism of human fibrillation. Congrats, Konstantinos!
